"El Cisne" was named as a rural parish in the year 1986. Livestock and agricultural production are the main sources of resources of the parish. The parish is of fame in the religious area for being there built the Basilica of the Virgin of the Swan. The construction of the basilica was initiated by the Reverend Father Ricardo Fernandez and then culminated by the Oblates parents.
Religious and commercial activity in particular religious tourism constitutes an economic activity of special significance for the inhabitants of the parish. The Museum of religious Art in a wide underground of the basilica keeps the artistic treasures that are testimonies of the veneration and the love of the people of Loja and provinces neighboring to Our Lady of the Swan.
By car, take via del San Pedro de la Bendita and continue until you reach St. Peter's, where you will find the detour that takes you to the swan. In the land terminal of Loja you can take public transport that will take you to the Swan Sanctuary.
